The Code of Conduct and Practice of TMA - Crash Course & Examination (Advanced Level)

To minimize the risk of spreading the coronavirus, this TMA Code crash course scheduled on 16th April will be conducted in the format of a webinar. Upon successful registration, registrants will receive a confirmation email with a specific link to access the webinar 2 days before the crash course.

This crash course and examination are applicable only to (i) non-AI staff members; or (ii) those who become Relevant Practitioners on ECF-TM starting from 2019.

Note [1] : Any other individuals performing the job roles outlined in paragraph 3.2 of the guide on ECF-TM but not working in an AI or those specified in paragraph 3.5(a) to (d) of an AI during the grandfathering application period (2 Jan to 31 Dec 2018) may submit their applications to the TMA for grandfathering within three months from the date of joining the Treasury Management functions of an AI and becoming a Relevant Practitioner.  However, they should have met all the applicable grandfathering criteria on or before 31 December 2018 as prescribed by the TMA.

Note [2] : Those who are already Relevant Practitioners on ECF-TM working under AI before 2019 must take the TMA level 2 education programme “Postgraduate Certificate in Banking and Corporate Treasury Management” so as to attain the TMA full membership together with the ECF-TM certification. Admission as TMA Full Membership (Applicable only to
(i) non-AI staff members or; (ii) those who become Relevant Practitioners on ECF-TM starting from 2019

The Professional Membership Committee (PMC) of the TMA takes into account the relevant professional qualifications, years of experience and position held of financial market practitioners in considering giving exemption to apply for TMA membership. For the time being, the following qualifications have been considered by the PMC for exemption of the required professional qualifications criteria:


(a) Exemption Policy for holders of relevant internationally recognised qualifications


Without relevant experience:


l         A candidate with the qualifications of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified International Investment Analyst (CIIA) or Financial Risk Management (FRM) but without relevant experience should enroll and pass the Code of Conduct and Practice of the TMA examination (Advanced Level) and meeting other prescribed criteria to attain the TMA Full membership requirement.


(b) Exemption Policy for experienced treasury staff without internationally recognised qualifications


With at least 10 years relevant experience:


l         A candidate without qualifications of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified International Investment Analyst (CIIA) or Financial Risk Management (FRM) but having at least 10 years relevant experience and holding a managerial or specialist position should enroll and pass the Code of Conduct and Practice of the TMA examination (Advanced Level) and meeting other prescribed criteria to attain the TMA Full membership requirement.


OR
With at least 20 years relevant experience:


l         A candidate without qualifications of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified International Investment Analyst (CIIA) or Financial Risk Management (FRM) but having at least 20 years relevant experience, holding a managerial position for at least 10 years and being endorsed from the immediate superior or human resources department should enroll and attend the Code of Conduct and Practice of the TMA crash course (Advanced Level) and meeting other prescribed criteria to attain the TMA Full membership requirement.


Applications under the above exemption criteria will be considered on a case by case basis and will be subject to the final decision and approval of the Membership Sub-Committee and Professional Membership Committee of TMA.

This crash course and examination are applicable only to non-AI staff members or those who become Relevant Practitioners on ECF-TM starting from 2019 (Refer to Note 1).  Prior to registration, please read the guide on ECF-TM and market practitioners should be sure that they have fulfilled the above criteria.


Eligible candidates please download the registration form and return it by fax at (852) 2815 9931 or email to tma@tma.org.hk.   Seats are limited and will be allocated on first-come-first-served basis, so early registration is encouraged. Reservation will be confirmed upon receipt of payment. Deadline for Registration and Payment: 9 April 2020


CPD & Attendance Certificate
Participants are entitled to receive 3 CPD (TMA) credits and 1 CPD (TMA) credit respectively upon completion of the crash course and examination. TMA is the administrator for the Enhanced Competency Framework on Treasury Management (ECF-TM) and a recognized institution of Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) for providing continuing professional development (CPD) activities. The CPD hours can be used to meet the CPD requirements of the ECF-TM and the SFC.  To qualify for the CPD credits or attendance certificate of the crash course, all participants have to sign-in and sign-out in the crash course. We regret that neither CPD nor attendance certificate will be given to those who are late for the crash course or leave early.
