Family
offices have become increasingly important to the financial services industry
in Hong Kong. Its growth rate in Asia has outpaced the rest of the world. According
to the speech of Financial Secretary in 2020, there were 7,300 single-family
offices in the world, with about 1,300 located in Asia Pacific, and since 2017,
the region has recorded a 44% increase in family offices.
Hong Kong possesses a
number of competitive advantages to serve as an effective hub for family
offices in Asia. Hong Kong Government has introduced different initiatives to
promote and support the establishment of family offices through tax concession
and updated regulatory regime.
Against this background,
TMA is delighted to have invited guest speakers from Invest Hong Kong, the
Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, to share with Members the
family offices opportunities and latest developments in Hong Kong, with synopsis as below:

Mr. Dixon Wong Head of Financial Services and Global Head of Family Office Invest Hong Kong
Mr Wong was
appointed as the Head of Financial Services at Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) in
March 2019 and the Global Head of Family Office in April 2021. InvestHK is the government department
responsible for investment promotion, i.e. helping overseas and Mainland companies
(i.e. financial institutions and family offices) to establish or expand their
business presence in Hong Kong.
Before
joining InvestHK, Mr Wong held various senior positions in a number of
different departments in an international bank for more than 20 years. Before that, he worked in the assurance and
advisory department of a big four international accounting firm.
Mr Wong has
obtained a LLB (Hons) degree and a MBA degree from the United Kingdom. He is also a Fellow Chartered Accountant
(FCA, Aust & NZ), Fellow Certified Public Accountant (FCPA, Hong Kong),
Fellow Chartered Governance Professional (FCIS/FCG, UK) and Fellow Chartered
Secretary (FCS, Hong Kong). Mr. Wong is
also a member of HKTDC Financial Services Advisory Committee and Steering
Committee of Asian Financial Forum.
Participants
are entitled to receive 1 CPD (TMA) credit upon completion of the webinar. TMA
is the administrator for the Enhanced Competency Framework on Treasury
Management (ECF-TM) and a recognized institution of Securities and Futures
Commission (SFC) for providing continuing professional development (CPD)
activities. The CPD hours can be used to meet the CPD requirements of the
ECF-TM and the SFC. To qualify for the
CPD credit or attendance certificate of the webinar, all participants have to display
their registered full names (same names in the registration form) for
attendance check. We regret that neither CPD nor attendance certificate will be
